Christine started playing football in 1971 for Wallsend Ladies. She only played friendlies but in 1976 joined the Hull League.
A North-East League was formed in 1977. With the establishment of the Northern Counties League in 1980, Wallsend Ladies changed their name to Percy Main and played on the club's home ground.
Until 1990, however, the team was known as Whitley Bay (with seasons playing as Whitley Bay Ladies (1983/84) and North Shields Ladies (1984/85)).
Christine retired from football at the end of the 1990 season. During her 20-year football career, she played ten times for England, making her debut in 1977 against Switzerland at Hull City's former Boothferry Park. She also played against Scotland and Wales during this period. Between 1981 and 83, Christine played another seven times for her country, during which she scored one goal against the Republic of Ireland (England won 5-0!). Her Legacy Number is 36, which means she was the 36th woman to play for England.

In 2024, Christine's amazing career was recognised with the presentation of her Legacy Cap by the Manchester City and England forward Lauren Hemp MBE at St. George's Park, the FA's national football centre in Burton upon Trent.
